The VisTracks platform allows solution developers to quickly create new applications or enhance their existing product line with real-time spatial and temporal tracking and analysis. The platform provides access to three principal services: tracking, analytics, and spatial data services. The platform also includes support for a powerful thin-client presentation layer that leverages the facilities of the Microsoft Silverlight technology to provide rich user experiences within industry standard browsers.

The VisTracks system architecture has been carefully designed to provide solution developers with great flexibility in configuring and deploying their products. By adhering to established industry standards, VisTracks applications integrate with any of the industry leaders in spatial database technology (e.g., Oracle Spatial, PostGIS, or SQL Server 2008) or spatial content providers (e.g., NavTeq or Tele Atlas). These choices, together with a variety of deployment alternatives (self-hosted, VisTracks-hosted, or hybrid), equip solution providers with a number of potential alternatives in bringing their technology to market.
